Laptop Question...

Hi Im applying to UF and looking to buy a laptop. Im looking into getting a macbook, will this be acceptable for the mechanical engineering program?

If not. what is good?

Here’s the page listing the requirements for UF engineering:

[UF College of Engineering](http://www.eng.ufl.edu/computerrequirements/index.php)

Note mechanical/aerospace is the only engineering department with additional criteria.

I see windows is preferred but was wondering if a mac will work also?

Only if you dual boot so that you can run programs like Solidworks, etc.

I believe a Macbook would have compatibility problems, since I’d imagine that many of the programs you’ll need to install for your engineering classes would only run on Windows. Therefore, you’ll need to install Windows and dual boot it with Boot Camp or a in a virtual machine. Now, whether you should buy a Mac at all…that’s a discussion for another day.
