I am doing my generals starting this Fall and need a good laptop. I am planning on majoring in accounting.

My Uses

-Studying
-Notes
-Music
-Movies
-Word Processing and Spreadsheet type stuff

Budget - anywhere between $500 - $1300

Thanks in advance

Apple. Enough said. Any of them, really. Though, I have the OS, and it is rather lovely.

A mac with a decent screen size isn’t really in OP’s price range.

Yes, that is partially true. The basic MacBook is priced at $999, though other features and accessories do add up quickly.

I would love a Macbook Pro but I doubt I would be able to come up with the extra money for the 15" screen and accessories I would want with it.

on a side note, why are my posts not counting toward my post count?

For a decent 700, get a PC laptop with ALL THE TRIMMINGS! WHen you arrive on campus you can buy MS Office for a really low price with your student I.D. at the bookstore; or pay 1200 and get a Mac Book. Again buy MS Office but less complete at the bookstore for a lower price at school. PC is more compatible with a lot more things than a Mac. Macs are more friendly sometimes for those not tech knowledgeable. PCs are easier to fix and cheaper to upgrade. I think Macs are more durable and reliable but they still crash…mine has a few times so back up your data and have recovery disks. Everything is changing to 64bit so don’t even think about a 32bit operating system. Mac is coming out with Lion in July which will have many types of things like Windows 7 and more like cloud services. Windows 7 is very friendly and so easy to use for any person. So here’s the info I have, hope this helps.

Oh you can get a 10% discount at school or online with apple/Dell/HP thru their educational stores. You need your school email if it’s been activated yet. Also with Apple they give a free 8Gb IPod many times with a Mac purchase in the fall as they are getting rid of the old model and will soon introduce a new model.
