Laptop?

Heyguys,
i need laptop, can you guys give me some rec's?
-screen size, between 12-15 inches
-less than $ 1,000
-wireless internet
-battery power, more than 4 hours
-dosne't get hot
-DON"t need DVD/games/music/gaming/PS2 port
-good screen resolution
-fast
-5 poounds or less
-new
-has USB/printer ports
-a CDdrive that also functions as a re-write
-decent memory

I'm mostly gonna use this for writing/journalism/web browsing, but i need one with a pretty good speed, light, good/decent memory.

Does this kind of laptop even exist?
I want the faster speed, plus the lightweight and long battery, but all the laptops i've seen that have those features also have bunch of gaming/DVD/music burning/graphics features that i'll NEVER, EVER, use, and plusthe raise the price ofthe laptop to over1,500! Does this kind of laptop exist or am i dreaming?

Compaq Presario R3000Z
Apple iBook
Averatec AV3225HS
All are 1099, but I think you can spare 99 more dollars + tax

Edit: Also try the E-Machines M5405... I would say it is the best out of the bunch for all around... The highest with battery life would be the iBook which hovers around 4-5 hours... However at this price range you really won't get a good 5 hour battery. The M5405 is about 2.5 hours

I'd say go for the 12" iBook, you can a fairly good one for less than 1000 and its a mac :)

I'm going to circuit city tomorrow(black friday- the single BEST day of the year for super shoppers) to pick up a Toshiba for $699. It doesn't meet all of your requirements though.

15" screen
2.8 GHz
533 MHz FSB
DVD/CD-RW
256 MB DDR-SDRam
40GB hard drive

Its not the best but we have another laptop in the mail right now and should be arriving soon, but I figure I can use this as a backup laptop when I go off to college. My parents say I need two computers at college in case one breaks... I know, kind of dumb, but whatever.

They also have a HP for $499....

Also, check out if they have extended batteries for the one you decide to get. I know we have a dell around here that has some special battery that seems to last forever. We've got 4 laptops(2 leased by fathers company) and even though some are cheap and some are top of the line, with most operations(web surfing, text editing) I can't even tell the difference.

iBook w/ Airport, definately. I have one and couldn't be happier, and it meets all of your requirements for under $1000, $999 new (They recently lowered the price.) Also, I believe Apple has a very nice one up in the refurb section that also meets your requirements, but for $799...nice deal!
