<p>I need to buy a laptop for use in College. Maybe you can give me good advice.
A lot of people were convincing me to get a MAC, but for financial and other reasons I wanna stick with Windows.
I wanna waste around 1400 dollars on it. I would go from 1400 up to, lets say, 1600, only if it was really necessary and an excellent investment.
I was thinking bout getting a DELL or IBM from a college store, but lately a lot of people are tellin me the Sony VAIO laptops are the best fot the price range Im aiming for. So Im planning to get the VAIO FS or FE series (online).
Note: I DONT play games but I DO record music and edit music a lot.</p>
<p>I have several friends that are using VAIO and are happy with it... You can also buy a MAC and if you are planning to stick to windows --- you can install it on the newer MACs (with Intel processors)... So it depends on you... MAC will give you a brighter screen and will be more portable and aesthetic...</p>
<p>If you want to spend less (~1000$),, you can go for Dell 7XXm series that are protable and have small screens (12inches). Otherwise, can go for Duos with 14 or 15inch screens. VAIOs have better look and apeal than Dells.</p>
<p>"Mac" is not an acronym. "Mac" is not an acronym. </p>

<p>:-O</p>

<p>Actually, the screens on the Macs aren't the brightest. I think Toshiba might have a lock on that. However, I'm tired of replying to upenn_rocks five thousand SPAM-ass threads. Enough already.</p>
