Help me out? I know nothing about what's good or not, but I know I want a Sony VAIO.

is it any good (I like the white one)?
If not, what's the best one I could get? All I really care about is the battery life and wireless connection, but I don't want to get anything crappy.</p>

<p>How's is awkward? I have one myself and it only took me a few days to get used to using the mac operating system. and i can always change it into windows when i need to. but there are some pros and cons:</p>
<p>pro #1 : they look nice
pro #2 : If windows get a virus, you can run mac no problem
pro #3 : its fun to use
pro #4 : its just darn awesome</p>
<p>con #1 : no right click on the trackpad
con #2 : the software issue (windows programs can run on mac, vice versa)
con #3 : the white ones get dirty easily (but you can wipe it off with little hassle)</p>
<p>so if i were you i wouldnt go to the pc because why only run windows when you can run both with a mac?</p>

<p>I got a Vaio SZ470N/C laptop (though in Thailand it's 2 Ghz instead of 2.16 Ghz) with Vista and it works great. </p>
<p>I'd rather get a PC because most schools (like Exeter) use them much more than Macs, although the preference mainly depends on the user.</p>
<p>awkward as in.. a little hard to get used to at first. yeah they're pretty, but do you get anything more out of it than a pc?</p>

<p>Oh my god, you get so much more out of a Mac than a PC. Macs are just undeniably more evolved computers. They're faster, they adapt to more programs (though less games, so if you're a gamer, that's an issue), they have more built in stuff, they work "out of the box", they're lightweight, they're easy to use and "make sense", the graphics are awesome, the software is so much better, and they're just plain better than PCs. (The above are reasons that my mum and her partner just listed as 'reasons I love my Mac.')</p>

<p>fact: right click is indeed super convenient on mac's. 2finger+click.
also, the 2finger scroll is Brilliant~, window's scrolling is super awkward.</p>
<p>agreed on the software, but with paralells/bootcamp, switch to windows... so no problem. also, most bs school accommodate macs, making all school related apps available on macs through intranet hosted software.<br>
but most popular apps [like photoshop, office...] are compatible.
also, most of the incompatible software are some games and little applications. for everything else windows-only, you can always find some mac substitute online [usually open-source, so it's free too ^.^]. and there is ton of mac-only software, making your computing life heavenly. for me, it made schoolwork 100x less stressful, and i never had any problems with the macbook, and never had it slow down/crash on me.</p>
<p>macbooks are incredibly powerful now, so prices are ≤ that vaio. plus, mac osx is still better than vista, so...QED.</p>
<p>I just did some more research and I'm leaning towards the macs now.
how are they size-wise? are they lightweight and portable?</p>
<p>I have an iBook, which is about the size of a MacBook (I think a little heavier) and I have no problems carrying it around when going between mum's and dad's house or traveling. My mum has MacBook and she says that it's fine in terms of carrying around.</p>
