laptops at syracuse (discounts)

I was wondering if Syracuse offered any student discounts for laptops.
My friend who is going to UMich was able to get her laptop cheap because of her student discount.

Anyone know where I could find such deals for Syracuse?

Thanks in advance. :D

Well from what I know for a fact, you receive an I-pod for every Mac you purchase. When you arrive at Syracuse, try the Schine student center book store for the purchases and discounts.

Not exactly "discount" but they do have some laptop offers. Last year, I think they had Windows laptops/Macs that weren't the best model of its type but it came with a full 4 year warranty.
You should be getting more information soon.

is the syracuse bookstore cheaper than buying directly from dell or apple?

for some reason, i get the feeling its a bit more expensive.

haekim: In the last Ready-set packet that you received, there was a booklet called "taking care of Business"....Many of your questions can be answered.....In addition, if you can't find the booklet, you can go on the Syracuse website to the Orientation 2008 page and go to Ready Set to download it.....

The bookstore may or may not be more expensive, but if you decide to buy a MAC the bookstore's purchase is guaranteed and if you need support or repair, you go to them....If you buy it at the Apple store, you need to go to an Apple store if you need support or repair......(they are in the Carousel Mall but what a pain in the neck.....)

I think that the Dell's have a similar warrantee with the bookstore...all of this stuff is in that book.......

It's more expensive to buy from the SU bookstore but you have the warranty and the support that comes with the deal.
I bought a better (windows) model than any of the laptops offered by the bookstore but if I were to ever spill a drink or damage my laptop in any way, I would be left without a pc, where someone who bought it from the bookstore, may get a repair or maybe even a new laptop depending on what kind of warranty they have.
