So, I'm still deciding on what kind of laptop to get for college. Any suggestions? :) What are you bringing?

I like Dell’s, they are solid. Go PC if your going into math/science/engineering/humanities/social science. linux are always good too if your going into computer science. Mac’s… well Mac’s are very restrictive.

i like the hp’s but thats up to you and unlike what art is melodic said, my roommate who is a mech e. major had a mac book pro. he only had to use a pc for one class but there are apparently pc labs open 24hrs for mech e.'s but you can load a free version of windows7 on bootcamp and bypass the program restriction

I have an hp tx series… it’s a tablet w/ a touch screen and swivel screen. So, i can type if i want. or i can get my stylus out and write my notes directly onto my laptop screen if i’d like! It’s been really good for me so far (junior transfer) but the battery life can only last a little less than 2 hours.

Remember - Apple computer systems now use x64/x86 processors. This means that you are capable of installing or dual-booting a full Windows install (XP, Vista, 7, else). So, if you like the design, but you’re a Windows person, that’s not a problem.
