Laptops for a budget of about $2000

So, since I'm going to my safety with a nice scholarship, I get to splurge on a sweet laptop! I have a budget of roughly $2000.

Wants:
-fast
-light, portable
-SSD 256GB+
-good battery life
-good fit and finish
-good for moderate gaming (Steam)

I'm more knowledgeable about Macs so the main one I'm looking at the the 15" Macbook Pro with Retina Display. It has a 2.0 GHz quad-core i7 with 3.2 GHz turbo boost, 8 GB RAM, and 256GB SSD.

Wondering what your opinion on this laptop is and if there are any Windows laptops that would be comparable and fit everything I'm looking for.

Windows alternatives in the same build-quality/specs as Macs would be Lenovo Thinkpads, specifcally the T or W series (or perhaps carbon X). You can get some pretty high-res screens and other specs for them. For a cheaper option, you could also look at the Lenovo IdeaPad Y series, which also have high specs.
