Laptops for College

I know this is probably not in college admissions category but I don't know how to post it elsewhere.

I'm going to be a biomedical engineering student next year and I will be using a laptop to do my school work, which consists of running multiple engineering programs that require windows. I also want to run dual monitors. I know macs can run windows programs with the right tools but I'm not sure what computer would be best. I'm stuck between sony vaio s, MacBook Pro, or a Samsung series 7.

What would be best for me?

The laptop must also last me for 4 years

You might want to also post on the Engineering Major forum.

If you want your notebook to last 4 years…scratch the Sony Vaio from your list. Overpriced and poor build quality.

I’d also give Lenovos some serious consideration.

Stuck as in you have no other options because a relative or someone may be buying for you, or stuck as in you think those are your best options after doing some of your own research?

macbooks are becoming hugely popular on college campuses. they are extremely durable (will last for more than four years). just make sure that the college’s required engineering programs are/would be compatible.

I would suggest the HP EliteBook 8560W.

I’d seriously consider a Lenovo ThinkPad. I don’t know what kind of “engineering applications” you’re going to be using, but depending on what it is you’ll probably want the workstation graphics cards that the higher-end ThinkPads have. The build quality is also pretty good.
