Laptops from JHU

Hey all,
I was just wondering if any of you were taking advantage of the hopkins 6 customized discounted laptops (apple, dell, and ibm). And if so, i was wondering if anyone knew which one they would choose or had any opinion on each model. I am thinking of going that route with my laptop purchase but i am kind of on the fence on which one to buy. I am thinking of the more expensive IBM Thinkpad. Any response is a appreciated. Thanks

i'm going with the cheaper dell one. i'm not too picky about my computers and don't expect to run programs that require high graphics. i'll mostly be doing just the spreadsheet, word document, and itunes type of stuff. nothing fancy. i also don't need something really fast and with a lot of harddrive storage. so that's why i'm choosing the cheap dell. i honestly don't care which brand it is, just as long as it's a PC!! the main reason i'm getting it from jhu is because of the IT support and the free computer that I can use in the interim while it's being repaired. (i'm not very tech savvy.)

I think I'm getting a Mac, but I also think you can get it for cheaper using other deals, not sure on this though. Main reason I'm going for the Mac is that, well, it looks pretty? Lol. And apparently it's harder for viruses and such to infect it.

I'm getting a mac also, either ibook or power book... it seems like the deal that the MCP jhu page takes you to isn't much better than the educational discount... plus they say you don't get the free software or the warranty that you do when you buy pcs through that. Sounds like the mac people are getting the shaft unless i'm reading it wrong..

Are any of you planning on using the Tablet PC? It seems to offer the ability to take notes and store them electronically while also serving as a laptop.

I type really fast, definitely faster than I write by hand, so that would be pointless for me.

yea get an apple people, but the deal that JHU offers on mac is horrible, it just takes the educational discount from apple that every K-12 and college student can get. just buy it directly from apple, u get the student discount and instant $149 rebate on all ipods. o and wait until july 7th for the media event, apple might announce an update on its ibooks and powerbooks. but then again it's apple, u never know wat they're going to do. and if ur not interested in getting an ipod, look for the apple certified refurbished laptops, u can save like $300 on a powerbook.
