laptops or paper for notetaking?

do people usually take notes on their laptops or in good ol fashioned notebooks for class?

i don't know, but i'd like to
hopefully the trend in college becomes laptops; i take my notes on loose leaf right now and type them up afterwards...waste o' time

typing up notes after taking them on paper isnt such a waste of time, especially if your tests/quizzes come from lecture...

there's a good mix of paper/laptops...if it's a large lecture chances are you'll find laptops but it also depends on the subject...

In general, laptops are not commonly used to take notes in class. This is because most professor notes are on powerpoints, which are more often than not available on blackboard (the class website). I'd say, overall, less than 10% of people use laptops to take notes regularly in class. Of course, that number varies, but I've taken classes all across the board, and that's what I've observed.

For the most part, people on laptops are surfing the internet doing facebook, checking e-mail, etc. etc.

Few people actually do class-related materials with their notebooks while in lecture

in ILR, i'd say, in classes in which there is no powerpoint (and non econ/stats), approx. 30% of ppl are using laptops to take notes.

it depends on major. it'd be kind of hard to take quality notes by typing on a laptop in a math or science class, unless you scribble on one of the tablet laptops.
