anyone have suggestions on which one to buy? I'm a enrolled stern student if that matters lol. Any features/extra buys that i would benefit from? thanks!

Are you a Mac or Win type?

This is a useful link from a thread in the past:

im more of a win guy but the only thing i dont like about macs is the touchpad (which could be substituted with a mouse anyways). that said, is there any major advantages/disadvantages that one has over the other?

Yes, but unless you have a reason to switch, you’ll probably be happier sticking with Win. It’s different for new users who don’t yet have a stake; various personal preferences come into play.

I am both a Mac and Windows user. I picked up a MBP from Microcenter (it’s on sale for $1000 and I don’t need an iPod Touch). The MBP touchpad is better than that of any Windows laptop so I really don’t know what you’re talking about sonicmage.
