laptops?

I do suppose that this is a bit far away, but it has been on my mind

does everyone have laptops at nyu (or university in general)?

lets say I didn't have a laptop... how are computer facilities?

I now live in Israel though I am american and here you really don't need a laptop, the computer labs are so well set up and convinient...I was wondering how it is in the states and NYU specificly. not as if I am studying programming - I would mostly just b typing things and using the net for research I assume.

If I do have a laptop is there an internet connection in the dorm room that I can just use? when we study fancy graphic and CAD programs in the theater design program, it will be in university computers I guess... so again, my computer (if at all) would just be for writing and net access.

so - should I get one?

Just about everyone at NYU has a laptop. The computer labs that NYU has are largely mediocre. Yes, many of them have nice brand-new iMacs, but they usually cannot accommodate the amount of people that want to use them, hence usually having to wait in line for one.

The dorms - at least the freshmen dorms - are equipped with an Ethernet connection - very fast hi-speed internet. Only a few dorms you have to supply your own internet connection e.g. Water Street.
