laptops

when are you all buying ur laptops? are you gonna buy an apple or a microsoft (dell, IBM, toshiba)?

For wharton they highly recommend Windows, but for the college I think they don't care as much between Apple or windows. I am buying a windows (I'm a whartonite now) even though I'm an apple guy, you can look for it in the Penn website.

Ima buy a sexy new tablet mid next year cause it will be good for graphs n stuff in wharton

^haha

yeah, i just got a dell - its got a few apple-compatible things on there though so its cool.

lol.. i am going to update my ibm next summer... well...i don't know what i should do with this one now.....it pulled me through........

if you're rich, just splurge on the ibm. if your father is a bich engineer like mine, go for the poor man's dell (which actually is a solid machine if you use it well).

Yea the ibm's are the best out there

I was gonna buy a mac. Mac can run all windows programs and everything. I just got a new PC a few months ago and its horrible. I am gonna give mac a try.

don't get a toshiba. i have one at home for the family computer, and the fans suck so much. we are getting them fixed every year at this rate.

for college, i'm looking at a macbook

you all need to wait for windows vista which comes out Q1 of 2007

It'll be out Q1? As in by March? I'll wait for it in that case...will all laptops automatically be equipped with it when it's released?

i thought Vista was being released in late January... can't wait though

I'd go with a macbook pro if you have the dough.

Isn't Vista just a ripoff of Mac OS X anyway?

There is no set in stone date but it will be out before the end of feb.
i am a nerd if you cant tell

if you cant wait buy a windows Vista capable pc. the upgrade will be free. Its just easier to wait for the newer pcs if you can.

OMG no linux being mentioned?

Macbook Pro - Fast Mac that can also run windows smoothly

unless you are fluent in programming language there's no point getting a linux....

penn's not MIT, lol

I'll believe that Vista is actually coming out when people start buying it.

M$oft has been saying Vista was gonna come out any day now for a year.
