Laptops

Hey everyone,

So, I am planning on going onto grad school in the next year or so and my current laptop is having issues. What is a good laptop that has a long battery life (my current one had 5-6 hours and was more of a powerhouse laptop), is slim and doesn't weigh much, and has features like a built in mic (not absolutely necessary but would be nice)? My primary purpose is word processing along with some other office/ statistical/ image apps, nothing intensive like gaming. Price is also an issue for me as well. Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance

If that's too expensive, you could get an old iBook or powerbook for a half decent price.

How much are macbooks? I am looking to spend $1100 or less, preferebly less

No way! I have a macbook pro. Macbooks are fine machines but battery life is really sub-par and they heat up so much. They don't even come close to 5 hrs even with lowest brightness...

Macbooks start at 1100$US.
I just checked on ebay, and you could get a G3 ibook for 500$US~.

Maybe macbooks have a better battery life than macbook pros, so...
You could get a macbook for around that price. It's a good deal, only that it's a 13-inch wide display, but a lot of bang for the buck.

I would look into the new Dell Inspiron notebooks that just came out:

they're under a 1000 and looks like it might serve your purpose well
