Hey guys! Quick question: I'm starting to look at laptops for college.. right now I have a 2 year old Dell, but since it has a 15 inch screen, I definitely want a smaller one.

What do most students at Georgetown use? Is there a preferred brand? Required, etc?

I sat in on a class when I was up there a month or so ago. It was a small class, only about 25 students max. Only 5 or 6 even had laptops, the rest were taking notes in spiral notebooks. Is this typical?

Thanks!

I want to know too!

it doesn't matter at all. kids here use all kinds of computers

50/50 between PC's and Mac's. I have a Mac and love it, it's really just a matter of preference. I'd argue that connectivity and network wise both are perfectly suitable for Gtown's network.

Looked at the website, and it says all MSB kids need a laptop, and they strongly recommend it be an IBM Lenovo standardized for MSB. I really wanted to get a Mac :( ...

do you think that current students follow the "standard laptop" rule, or do some have macs? i wonder if they've had any repercussions...

I don't think any of the MSB kids I know have IBM laptops, unless that is something new that they are recommending for this year. Most people on campus have either a Dell or a Mac laptop, including MSB students.
