Laptops!

So, post what kind of laptop you have [or what kind you want to have, lol] and what you like/hate about it :]

[[[[inspired by doomster lol, who also inspired me to buy my own laptop :D]]]]

HP Pavilion suckssssss 5 years old computer that is sooo slow and big and cumbersome dont get itt

Mac Powerbook G4

im waiting until next fall to get a new computer even though i have keys falling off and all sorts of stuff is going wrong with my comp
but its all good....i want to have a nice new shinny one for college!!

^Exact same situation!

Mac Powerbook G4, 2 keys have fallen off, some stuff is wrong with it, but I'll get a new one for college. (I'm a junior right now, so I'm just asking it to please, please make it through another year and a half or so)

Mine is 12", though, and I love it so much...and now Apple doesn't even make 12" laptops anymore :( :( I hate how my computer is not doing so well, but I really don't like the new MacBooks.

Gateway T series. It was the cheapest one they had in Best Buy. I got it the day I took the March SAT. It's ok; it runs Vista decently. I don't game so I dont need anything fancy.

Don't have one atm, since they suck for playing games. Will be getting one in August/September 2009, when I leave for whatever college I end up attending. I want a nice one, ~$2000, that could last all four years.

^amciw, you should look for a good one after Christmas, sales this year are going to be EPICCCCCCC.

Ideally, by August, the new Intel Core i7 (which is significantly better than the current Core 2 Duo based processors) will have been integrated into laptops, and that is sort of what I was aiming for in terms of processing power. The mobile chip isn't scheduled for release until Q3 2009, so I don't think I'll be able to find one after Christmas this year. That being said, thanks for the heads-up on the sales (which I sadly never knew existed). I have other things I want that aren't so sensitive to product release dates, and it will be a good opportunity to get them cheaply.

/computer nerd

Okay, has anyone else been following the netbooks trend? I'm not sure if I should get one for college, because they look skeptical in terms of lasting power, but would be extremely convenient as far as carrying it around goes... The HP one looks nice, but it's about $200 more expensive than the others.

I'm currently using a Macbook. The only real issue I have with it is that my caps lock sucks like no other. lol.

Toshiba Satellite. It's hot.

Hot as in...it overheats.

Dell Insipiron 1525.

@bluecow:The HP one was $300 yesterday, wut? Have you been seeing netbooks sell for $100 anywhere?

Anyhow, I'd have totally bought one yesterday if only I hadn't spent ~$400 on electronics recently...

I got the new Macbook yesterday, the 2.0 ghz version. The track pad is really hard to get used to, but after a day it's just plain cool.

@Yawn:

Your compy overheats? Mine gave me a second degree burns last week.

Yeah, I'm not kidding. Heat vents are a b*tch.

Oh snap, speaking of overheating, I used to have a powerbook G4 (which I bought used from an acquaintance for very little money -- I'd never otherwise have bought a mac, lololol) and it would ive you third degree burns if set on your naked lap, so I had to use a little table for it if I didn't want to cauterize anything down there...

I've got a Dell Inspiron 1501. It's 17" and so huge next to my friends' Macs. I used to think Macs sucked, but between the video chats and the tiny weight, that's what I'll be getting for college. Unfortunately, mes parents told me my laptop (which they got for me in eighth grade) has to last till I go to college.

I'm a sophomore.

Greeeaaat.

@Yawn: Same here.

@glassesarechic: My mom told me my Jansport backpack (the kind with two pockets) has to last me till college. I got it at the beginning of 8th grade.

^ lollllll

You should laugh at them right now, because it will have trouble even getting on the internet in 2015, or earlier, for that matter.
