Are many of you buying laptops from UF or buying on your own? It seems their prices are reasonable.

7% discounts are reasonable, but theres usually better deals out there. i frequent a blog called Gizmodo that has a list of deals to be had on the internet available that day that averages 4+ laptop listings per post. i’m not sure what the scheduling for those posts are, but they’re frequent.

here is the index showing only those posts: [Gadget dealz of the day - Gizmodo](http://gizmodo.com/tag/gadget-dealz-of-the-day/)

they’re usually better than 7% and aren’t resticted by manufacturer. the only problem being that if you’re looking for something real specific, you might have trouble. for instance, they dont have 13" laptops all that often

There are usually big sales for 4th of July. Just look at store’s websites and see what deals they are having for that day, I am sure you can find something a lot better than just 7%. Does any1 know if dell would allow to use 7% off on top of a special offer?

Also, great website to find good deals is [Slickdeals.net - The best coupons, lowest prices, and hottest deals.](http://www.slickdeals.net)

Does anyone know when the next generation of laptops usually come out. Aug? Dec? April?

they generally dont come out in generations. apple does that, but most manufactueres put out new lines of computers regularly to replace old ones. they dont do it all at once, and the differences are negligible. specs definitely dont come by ‘generation’; as prices decline, specs are boosted up while prices stay the same.

7% is a great deal if you want something specific because it’ll discount it no matter how you customize your computer. However, the best deals are to be had on pre-assembled laptops (either on the manufacturer website or in a store like best buy.) So if you don’t have a problem with not handpicking the details of your computer, you’re better off looking for one of those. I will say however, you can often find those bundle deals on the dell website, so you can get the bundle deal on top of the 7% off and end up saving even more.
