Laptops

I don’t know anyone here at Tulane that uses a laptop lock… Oh wait, I do know one person but most of the people I know who knows he has one thinks it’s kinda weird… I can speak for me and all my friends here at Tulane and none of us use them.

I bought my s a laptop lock. He never used it. Its now in my office securing a laptop there.

Thats the title of the following article: [Universities Ban iPads - Yahoo! News](http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20100419/sc_livescience/universitiesbanipads)

OK, I admit I am doing this to have some fun at my friend idad’s expense. The title is overblown and the problems will be worked out fairly quickly, I bet. Still, in all seriousness it does indicate that you need to check with Tulane (or any school) and see if this is an issue. If I were going to Princeton, for example, I certainly wouldn’t be buying an iPad quite yet. And if I were going to Israel…geez, banned by an entire country! That’s gotta hurt (back into tweaking mode, obviously).

iPads are going to need some shake-out time. It is likely going to put some strain on bandwidth (though that was not Princeton’s issue) because so much more will be done on them. I can report that S1 has no problem using one at UChicago.

Next installment of “iPad in college” is coming soon with some amazing information.

Just read this, thought others might be interested.
Here are the #'s for the tech store. (504) 862-8059 OR (877) 623-0023 My son is getting a Mac for his freshman year. It is the same price at Tulane as it is at Apple. We will buy it before he gets to Tulane. However the Microsoft package is cheaper if you buy from Tulane by over $100 dollars than if you buy it pre-loaded on your Mac.

Almost every year Apple offers a student special whereby each student who buys a Mac can get a free iPod touch. My guess is that they will do the same this year.

The year my s bought his laptop, he opted for the free printer.
