for all you ppl mentioning indiana its rep is very over rated out of state. if u have lived in indiana in the last 5 yrs. you know whats going on. Indiana used to be a good school but its standards have dropped dramatically they let basically anyone in. Purdue is a better school but the social life there is dreadful. I recommend Ohio University-Athens its perfect for almost anyone.

I'm surprised to see no UVa or Michigan. I realize they may be reaches, but I think they're worth considering. They seem to fit a lot of the things you want--just great, fun schools to attend.

I spent a summer at Michigan and loved the school and the town of Ann Arbor (BEST town EVER!), but 25,000 students is just a little too big for me.

I'm applying ED to Virginia.

You sound similar to me, looking for a fun and well-rounded experience. Personally, I wanted a lot of tradition and history and great D1 teams, at a school with somewhere between 5000 and 15000 students. UVa was just a "duh!" once I visited.

Oops!!! I meant to say that Texas-Austin is a long shot for non-residents. Yes, Ohio University is excellent.

I am not familiar with the alleged decline at Indiana-Bloomington. Facts, please?
