Larger residential colleges?

both are extremely beautiful
i guess miami isn't top 20 on princeton review anymore, but is on several lists of most beautfiul campuses
i also love OU's campus

In comparison, Miami has the reputation of being "snobby" and OU as a "party school" where no one studies

I can't stand the J Crew U stereotype at all... When I first chose to go to Miami I was extremely nervous about all the "snobby, preppy" kids I was going to meet, and told my parents if I didn't like it I would tranfer to UNC... (I never even applied to transfer). To be honest I don't know anyone who would ever qualify as snobby. I come from a well-to-do city and I know what snobby is--and Miami is not... The kids are the nicest people in the world, and while some may be very well off, they do not show it. Miami is also not J Crew U... I wore sweats, t-shirts all the time (to class, and when i go out), and at the same time you won't be riduculed for dressing up. I wear nice clothes aboyt 10 times less at school than home (no joke). Finally, Miami actually is more diverse than OU racially.
I stand behind my college decision 100% and that is why I am still on this forum, because I want to help other people see what Miami (and other schools) have to offer.

^^ awesome! grr u just confused me with miami now.

darn you.

I think i'd be better off for a scholarship at OU vs miami cuz my stats are above OUs average?

confusion

get outta buffalo... what exactly are your stats if you don't mind me asking...

I am VERY familiar with both of these schools... I am from Ohio and in my school district most students choose Ohio State (2nd hardest), then OU (easiest), then Miami (hardest to get in)

If you like both (and they are very similar) I urge you to apply to both Miami and OU--- I believe both use the Common Application--which means you essentially fill out 1 application that is accepted at hundreds of schools (same essay, same stats etc)-- then just complete the short supplement for each individual school.

you've probly been to these but here they are anyway

THANKS! :-)

uconn, there isnt much off campus housing near campus

you are probably guaranteed honors program at OU, and have a very good shot at Miami

P.S. it's getting hard for me to distinguish these SAT scores, bc I am used to the 1600 scale

u need at least 1400/1600 to get honors at OU. Scholarships very much based on SAT. and i am praying for a 1300/1600.

where would i fare better for scholarships?

Where did you hear the 1400 for honors at OU? From what I know personally, that sounds incorrect

OU gives automatic scholarships based solely on test scores, as well as a few att'l scholarships...
see the table
<a href="http://www.ohio.edu/admissions/gateway/index.cfm#gateway%5B/url%5D">http://www.ohio.edu/admissions/gateway/index.cfm#gateway</a></p>

Miami doesn't use a number-automatic system. But rather you are considered through GPA, essays, Test scores, reccommendations etc. The Harrison (Full-Ride) typically goes to kids with an SAT above 1450.
Honors Program admittance gives a $2500 award per year- and typically takes kids with 1250/1300+. You will also be considered for many other scholarships
<a href="http://www.units.muohio.edu/sfa/scholar/index.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.units.muohio.edu/sfa/scholar/index.htm</a></p>

If you are concerned about money then OU is cheaper overall, and you would probably get more Aid at OU because its less prestigious in terms of academics

Ou's honors is extremely selective! so ive read and talked with officer at college fair.

Maybe it's smaller. I'm not sure.

weird. how do i look for miami scholarships?

You'll either get a form/application in the mail or you can request it somehow for the Harrison scholarship--- and you fill that out and the essays... it will qualify you for the honors program as well a full ride or other scholarships.

Check out that link I posted before, it could have more information that I'm not aware of

hehe i meant how do I look as a possible recipient based on my stats? lol sry bad wording.

You have a good shot for the honors program I would go for that. Applying to that will give you a chance for everything else as well, which you could also probably recieve an addt'l scholarship.
