So someone just reccomended this new Vocab book,The Insider's Complete Guide to SAT Vocabulary: The Essential 500 Words, by the same amazing author that wrote the APUSH/DH books. I only have the summer to study for the SATs. My question is do the Direct Hits and the new book overlap completely or do they have different words and I should study both?

Two words- More and Better. Krieger’s new book has more words and lots more practice examples than the old DH book. Plus, his examples are much better than the ones in DH because they focus on how words are being used on recent tests. Hope this helps you!

my tutor just got the new book and told me to buy it. She apparently had the old DH books and said this one is way better. She said it has all the DH words and also has some new chapters on tone vocabulary and stuff that helps with the CR section. I will let you know what I think when I get it.

The new one is better (more categories if you know what I mean) but I use it in conjunction with the old books.

Thank you novelidea, that is what I really wanted to know, you and another friend who is PMing me has helped me very much in deciding on which books to get. Now I dont have to buy both books :)
