Ok, so I saw the "last 2 summers" question on the common app and got a bit worried.

I haven't done anything extraordinary in the last 2 summers. This summer I was teaching myself Java, going to the gym and doing a lot of photography, which I have submitted to numerous stock websites where they get sold. I'm going to Alaska next week where I'm going to expand my photography portfolio and continue to submit to the websites. I'll also be attending a summer course in physics at the end of August. But do all of these activities sound a bit mundane?

I mean, I am a human being and I do like to enjoy my summer and do what I enjoy. Getting internships where I live nowadays is almost impossible unless you have family connections, which means that basically getting an internship is not your own initiative - its your parents' initiative. Do they expect to see "I did an internship, got a job, went on a summer camp, cured aids..."? (ignore the last bit lol) Again, getting a job where I am is impossible unless you're 18. My friend got rejected by McDonalds and a small local clothes shop because he was too young xD

Could I ask people who got accepted at Ivies or equivalent what they wrote for the "summer" section on the common app supplement?

Thanks
