This may sound like a stupid question, but when schools say they look at the "last 60 units" on someone's transcript, what exactly does that entail? The last 60 units before applying, or the last 60 units until graduation?

Before applying. They can’t know your grades in advance of your taking the courses. :)

Hi. Thanks for your reply.
The thing is that I’m applying right now. I’ve only finished fall quarter 2010, and my GPA still isn’t high enough for the programs I want to get into (Speech-Language Pathology Master’s extended program, which ask for more than 3.5). I was wondering if they’ll ask to see my transcript again once I graduate in June, after having completed winter and spring quarters, and make their decision based on my final 60 units. I really hope they look at my final GPA, because I know I can raise it (I had two really bad quarters last year).

Yes, you will have to send your final transcript to your graduate program to prove that you earned your degree; however, it won’t have anything to do with their decision, which should be made several months before you graduate. The “last 60 credits” in your case will include your previous school as well as your current one.
