Last Chance Thread, EVER

So I applied ED for Huntsman/Wharton and i was deferred ( congrats to those who were accepted!!) , but I still have a dying passion to attend Huntsman or Wharton and Penn in general. I was hoping you guys would chance me. Thanks so much and GO QUAKERS.

I also sent a letter to my regional representative talking about my new accomplishments and how I still consider Penn my first choice. Thanks everyone. Hopefully I will see some of you guys next year.

i think you will be deferred from ED =P

the science section on the act is a *****… i gotta 720 on bio and 4 on both bio and chem aps and wound up with a 25… such bs… the section proves nothing on ur knowledge of science. Haha I pretty much have a 27 on the ACT and tons more credentials chance me for Penn?

Honestly, I think those scores would keep you out at this point, but that’s just my own gut reaction.

Yeah, at this point, I’m not optimistic at all.

yea the test scores are low. but your course load looks good and theres nothing wrong with having hope  good luck.

Yeah I guess, haha that’s a good way to look at it. Thanks :)

Anyone else? or are the opinions pretty general?

I hate to say that low scores can keep you out, because everything else looks great. But your ACT is definitely below Penn’s range. Do you have any other hooks? What’s your race? Location? I’m assuming you’re from the midwest because you didn’t take the SAT…
What are your backup schools?

I’d like to point to his SAT math 2 score: 600. Thats gonna hurt a lot.

if i were you, i would definitely definitely retake the SAT math 2 in january, if you can manage it. just pay the late fee. since huntsman and wharton both really emphasize math.
it shouldn’t be too difficult to study for three weeks and get a decent score

Hey everyone. I am on the west coast in a small town in oregon. I am Hispanic so am a urm. My back up is Santa Clara university in the bay area, they have a cool business school and I got a solid scholarship there. I will sign up for the sat 2 again. Okay, I’m gonna need some help for this though. How did you guys study for this test? I need at least 700 or more. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I will never leave the university library until I get a 750 on practice tests.

For Math IIC, I recommend the Sparknotes guide and the extra test booklet. Closest thing to the real tests you’ll get.

Helped ensure an easy 800 for me back when I was applying for college a few years back. If you’re getting a 600, I would maintain that these guides will help you clock past 700 without too much trouble. Do not get the Barrons guide – it is needlessly overexhaustive and will waste your time. You’re better off honing your skills in what you’ll actually be tested on.

Okay, sounds good. I’m gonna do that right now. I have Barron’s and that’s what I used on the last test. So hopefully with this I will be solid. Thanks Max. Gotta love the people from the 541.

Anyone else?

Not that many will really care, but I’m taking both Spanish and Math again and am studying for both. Spanish is pretty easy for me now so I don’t see why I shouldn’t get a 750+ and math is coming along just fine. Any more opinions? thanks

Where do you live / what ethnicity are you?

Honestly it doesn’t look good, and unless you can contribute to the school’s geographic or racial diversity, idk if you’ll get in

Best of luck though

he said hispanic which is a pretty good boost to his chances

I’m from Oregon too… I dunno if this adds anything…

I looked it up, OR has some people but isn’t in the top 3 lowest states represented

just a question… how much would a 700 math lvl 2 score help my application?

I think the reasons you weren’t denied were your rigor, gpa and urm status. The reason you weren’t accepted were your abysmal (for Penn) test scores. An improved test score in Math2 would help, but I think the most important thing is to keep your grades from dropping in this mid-year report. If the tests were a deal killer, you would have been denied. Good luck!
