Yale - medium reach
Dartmouth - low reach
Brown (legacy) - low reach
Middlebury - no idea
Bowdoin - match
Williams - high match
Amherst - high match
Colby - no idea

i think you have a great chance at all of these schools. the only schools that are reaches are yale, dartmouth and to a lesser extent brown because of your legacy. other than that i wouldnt be worried in the least :)

Ohmygosh! Everyone has chanced me so kindly! My parents think my list is FAR too reach heavy. This is how they see it (and how I sometimes see it too).
Yale - REACH SO BIG ALMOST A WASTE TO APPLY
Dartmouth - High Reach
Brown (legacy) - High Reach
Middlebury - High Reach
Bowdoin - Reach
Williams - High Reach
Amherst - High Reach
Colby - High Match
Hamilton - Low Reach
Carleton - Low Reach
Connecticut College - Match
Bates - Low Reach
Haverford - Reach
Oberlin - High Match

I am from Ohio, so I thought it would make admissions even harder for me at these schools.

Yale-reach
Dartmouth-mid reach
Brown (legacy)-high match because of legacy
Middlebury-match
Bowdoin-match/high match
Williams-high match/low reach
Amherst-low reach
Rest are matches

I think you stand a great shot at many of these unis. The application fees must have cost you a fortune! Do you really think I’m a reach to Northwestern? I’m above their 75% in both SAT/ACT.

I thought you were a reach at Northwestern b/c even if one is above the 75th %tiles, if a school is very selective, it’s still not a match. For example, my friend is applying to Yale with a 2320, but it is in no way anything but a reach. I would put Northwestern as just a bit less selective than Yale.

Yeah, the application fees were pretty high. I didn’t learn until my 10th college that my school sends free SAT score reports. Argh. But my parents figure if I get into one of these college, the need based FA is excellent, so I’ll be saving them a ton of money.

Yale-high reach (I’d say you’re set, but in these selective colleges you never know what their true determining factors are)
Dartmouth-reach
Brown (legacy)-reach (but better chances because of legacy)
Middlebury-mid reach
Bowdoin-mid reach
Williams-low reach
Amherst-low reach
Colby-match
Hamilton-match
Carleton-match
Connecticut College-match
Bates-match
Haverford-match
Oberlin-low reach

Yale - 25%
Dartmouth - 45%
Brown (legacy) - 55%-75% (depends on how active your parents were)
Middlebury - 70%
Bowdoin - 75%
Williams - 55%
Amherst - 55%
Colby - In
Hamilton - In
Carleton - In
Connecticut College - In
Bates - In
Haverford - 80% chance (should be in)
Oberlin - In

Thanks! My parents didn’t go to Brown, but I have two grandparents and another relative who went. My grandfather was very active in the Brown community.

I have a professor recommendation at one of the top LAC. How do you think that will help my chances, slipper1234?

I think a lot of people are off in their chances… How are people putting matches for Williams and Amherst? Or a low reach for Williams yet a high match for Amherst?
