I want to apply ED but I don't think it's a good idea because of money issue.

ACT? Low. Are you taking it again? Did you take the SATs or subject tests?
GPA? Better, but…
ECs? Decent. Enough to make up for the low ACT? I wouldn’t imagine so.
APs? Fine.

Isn’t applying early decision a binding contract to attend the school? If money is uncertain, early decision might not be the best option. If it’s not, … good luck applying. Pick a few dream schools and a few safety schools, and apply for scholarships at each.

gwgrad: Thanks for your very useful comments. Please continue to post. I think we have learned a lot about GW from your comments.

As to “chances,” I agree with your previous posts that good ECs may not necessarily overcome low or even average GPAs and SATs when applying to GW because realistically, each year it is getting really tough to get accepted to GW.

5krunner-
Glad it helps. And, it’s always kind of funny-and sad- for people with a low GPA but some ECs to expect to get into Harvard (or lower ranked places, like GW). Sometimes it happens, but… people applying to these schools often have it all- great GPA, exceptional ECs, some sports or jobs, etc. I hope people here realize that they’re competing against the creme of the creme- not the average high school applicant. So, not being able to get into GW, or some other top tier, doesn’t mean their stats are bad-- but, they just don’t match up or tower over the competition. It’s always good for people to pick some safety schools, and be realistic about their expectations.
