ECs:
Scholastic Scrimmage (general knowledge quiz bowl team), captain. I've been involved since freshman year and have been on varsity since sophomore year. Sophomore year we were in conference semifinals and the semifinals of a 40 school regional tournament. Junior year we were 2nd place in our conference and in the semifinals of the same regional tournament. This year we went 23-2 in the regular season and won the conference championship (which our school hadn't won since 1999), qualifying us for nationals, which we will attend in June. In the PBS tournament I've been made a team captain for the all stars match. I was selected for this position out of 17 school teams.
Debate, cross examiner, on the finals team this year, we were conference champions last year. This year were 18-2, and took second place in our conference.
Philosophy Society, president
Students for Political Action, libertarian party chairman
Young Republicans Club, vice president
Chess, varsity (I was undefeated this year)
Mock Trial Court, I'm one of only seven students to make it on the team. This was our first year of competition and we won our district (the largest district in PA) and are now one of only 21 teams who haven't been eliminated yet.
Creative Writing Club, executive committee officer since sophomore year
Principal Student Advisory Board
Library Advisory Board
Won 2nd Best Representative at Pennsylvania Model State Assembly last year
Voted "Class Einstein" in senior superlatives
I've worked at my local library since the end of my freshman year.

My essay is "very good but wouldn't be amazing to Ivy League schools", according to people who used to be admissions readers.
One of my teacher recommendations is going to be very good and the other is going to be absolutely fantastic. My counselor rec is going to be average.

Thanks and I will chance you back as soon as possible.

In my opinion, your SAT and rigor of classes looks great and your ECs! I’m not very familiar with the gpa scale out of 100 but it looks solid too. I think you have a good chance at Wesleyan, Hopkins, and UPenn.

your stats look good! as you probably know, you’re essentially in at Lafayette (i applied there too!), F&M, and Gettysburg.
wesleyan’s gotten really hard to get into. i think because it’s so small, it looks to admit each different “type” which makes it more hard for a typical applicant or someone without a super quirky talent. you have really strong extracurriculars though and i hope they appreciate them! i was rejected ED from there so maybe i’m being more *****y than otherwise haha. i had a 3.6, 2180, and similar ecs though so you’re a bit above me.
brown and penn are reaches for everyone.
you have a really impressive application though, especially your extracurriculars scores and course selections! i’m sure you’ll get into one of the more selective schools you applied to and best of luck!

if you’d like to chance me back, it’s http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1295780-chance-chance-back-lolz.html</a></p>

Honestly, everything looks good to me. You have great SAT scores and ECs. Though I’m not familiar with that sort of GPA system, I’m thinking it must be pretty decent (esp. the senior year scores). I think you have a great shot at most of the schools you applied, minus Brown, UPenn, and JH. UPenn & Brown are reaches (I think) and JH is a match. Keep those grades up and remember to let your school - particularly Brown since you’ve been deferred - that you’re still very interested. Thanks for the chance!

I honestly believe your academics are perfect. BUT your extra curricular activities are irrelevant. Nothing means anything, and nothing shows spark. Anybody could do any of those things, but its what you do in them that matters. EC’s are simply tools to get you invested into something, that will make you great! you give a large quantity of EC’s but the results of each thing you listed is not shown. That will lead the admissions directors to believe you are doing certain activities just to say you have done them.

Not sure if I calculated right but does that mean you’re GPA on a 4.0 scale is only 3.49 (which is somewhat low for the schools that you’re applying to)? You’re ECs are strong but lack uniqueness or something that would stand out among others applying to those schools. I’m not sure what your chances would be that those are just some things to keep in mind. Your subject tests and SAT scores are impressive though.

Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1298080-chance-me-please-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Thanks everyone. And when I converted by GPA to 4.0 going through each class individually it came out to about 3.6UW\4.2W.

You have very solid stats and great ECs. You definitely have a decent shot at Hopkins, Wesleyan, UPenn, and Brown, but nothing is guaranteed with those schools. You should get accepted to the rest of the schools on your list. Thanks for chancing me and good luck!
