Last Chancing- I will chance back

Hi there,
You might have seen this thread, but my stats have recently changed, so I wanted to repost. I am a rising senior from a very competitive High school in California. I moved from Iran to the U.S. back in 8th grade without knowing how to speak English. I have struggled a lot trying to learn English to a level of competing with the rest of my peers, but I think I have tried my very hardest in balancing my academic life as well as my extracurriculars while trying to learn a second language. Stats:
GPA: 3.99 UW, 4.5 W
SAT: 690 CR, 770 math, 720 W (2180)
SATIIs: 77o Bio M, 770 math lvl2, 700 chem(not gonna submit)
ACT: 33
APs: English Language(5), Physics mechanics C (4), Bio (4)
ECs: took a course at Stanford Summer for 3 units. Got an A
Self-taught pianist, my biggest EC since I can play advanced pieces even though I have never had a teacher before. (By advanced I mean some Chopin etudes and nocturnes, Beethoven movements, Schubert impromptus etc)
Going to submit two visual supplements (pastel paintings and anatomy, photography) I have never entered in competitions. Hopefully the art will speak for itself.
Historian at FBLA
Music service club secretary, basically perform for the public for community service
Teach students in Bangladesh English via Skype (recently got the 'project of the year' award by a well-recognized NGO in Bangladesh)
Treasurer at NHS for French (I mentioned president in another forum, but the votes somehow got miscounted by the teacher, and so now I am the treasurer). Basically responsible for doing fundraisers.
About 200 hours of community service (Worked two summers and school years at library, tutored peers for mathematics and bio, music recitals etc)
Went back to Iran one summer and taught English at my old school (my Princeton and Rice essay. Very strong content)
2 years of JV swimming
LINK crew leader

List of colleges:
Pomona College (deferred in ED round)
Princeton
USC
UCLA
UCSD
UCD
Upenn (CAS)
Rice
Johns Hopkins
Northwestern

I am really trying to bring out the difficulties of English as a second language and a whole new country into the equation in the essays. As for recommendations, I think they are solid since both teachers really like me. My counselor also knows the troubles I have been through adapting to a new language. Let me know what you think. Thanks for reading!

buuuuuummmpppp

Pomona College (deferred in ED round)

You have really interesting and great stats, but sadly there are so many qualified applicant at the schools you are applying too. Good luck! :)

Princeton and PENN are always difficult but you could write a killer essay about your experience moving to the US and get accepted into most of these schools. You’re best shots Are likely the California schools but I like your chances to all of them! Chance me please

Thanks a lot guys. Don’t forget to leave your link if you want feedback on your forums as well.

Your test scores could use some work, but you should be fine getting into most of the California schools. If you had some stronger ECs, some of the “Low Reach” schools could be high matches.

Princeton: Reach
Pomona College: Low Reach
UPenn (CAS): Low Reach
Rice: Low Reach
Northwestern: Low Reach
Johns Hopkins: High Match/Low Reach
USC: High Match
UCLA: Match
UCSD: Match
UCD: Match

bummpp. Don’t forget your link :)

buuuuummmmmpppp

You have a great story and a lot of stand-out ECs… you should have a solid chance almost anywhere.

Your UCs: Safeties
Rice: match
JHU: mid/high match
Penn: low reach?
Princeton: mid/high-reach (I can’t honestly say Princeton is better than a mid-reach for anyone. Your CR SAT is a bit low for Princeton as well.)

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1598603-please-chance-me-rice-uchicago-berkeley-brown-mit-purdue-washu-michigan.html</a></p>

yes my SAT critical reading is a bit low for Princeton and penn. Hopefully the 32 and 33 on reading and english on the ACT, as well as the 5 on the language AP, will balance that out.

Buuuuuummmmmmppppppp

Yeah you have a very interesting resume, so I think you have a shot at some of your reaches (I can’t make them matches because of their selectivity for anyone)

Princeton: reach
USC: match
UCLA: match
UCSD: safety
UCD: safety
Upenn (CAS): reach
Rice: low reach
Johns Hopkins: low reach
Northwestern: low reach

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1597816-completely-toast-nah.html</a></p>

You have an interesting story and I feel that if that shows in your application then you’ll have really good chances at all those schools.
UC’s are all matches
Pomona - high match
Princeton - reach
USC - match
John Hopkins - low reach/high match
The rest are low reach/reach because they’re so competitive that you can’t tell for anyone
I think you’ll end up somewhere great though and those are all amazing schools! I’m sure you’ll get into a few of them at least. Chance me back!
