Last Chancing- I will chance back

Bummppp I also applied to Columbia, but not counting on it (just for the fun of it I guess :D).

Pomona College
Princeton
USC
UCLA
UCSD
UCD
Upenn (CAS)
Rice
Johns Hopkins
Northwestern
Columbia
copy and paste :D

I think your story and struggles with moving to America will be compelling especially considering how successful you have been.

Pomona College (deferred in ED round): gonna be hard unless you do a good job reaching out the school and showing your interest in Pomona / quality as an applicant. If you have no contact with the school after being deferred, you won’t get in
Princeton: high reach
USC: match
UCLA: match
UCSD: match
UCD: match
Upenn (CAS): reach
Rice: high match
Johns Hopkins: reach
Northwestern: high match / low reach

I agree with the post above. Your chances are a lot better because of your story. It is pretty impressive, and I think that will make your scores look a lot better.

Endersgame and glass77, thx for your replies. As for Pomona, I have already talked to the person who has looked over my case, and I’m writing a letter updating them on my most recent accomplishments. Btw, do you think JHU is harder to get into for me than Northwestern, because i always thought of JHU as my lower reach compared to Northwestern :)

What’s your rank? How rigorous has your schedule been compared to what your school offers? I have been accepted to Princeton with a 2200 and 760 math 720 mol bio. I have a similar application if you want to look at it. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1605653-princeton.html</a> You have a shot. I won’t lie. It’s tough as Princeton rejected a lot of higher numbers for me. Overcoming a language barrier is a good point, but I say you have as good a chance as anyone else. It’s always a long shot. Good luck!

Our school doesn’t rank, but I have been told by my counselor that my GPA is as good as it gets really. Top 20 out of 430 probably. My high school is very competitive actually. My school doesn’t offer much in terms of APs. The only AP that I could have taken that I didn’t take thus far has been APUSH. This year, my schedule is AP Chem, AP Lit, AP Gov/Econ H, French Honors, AP Calc and ceramics (for graduation). I am above when looking at averages for GPA for past students from my school that have gotten into the schools mentioned. My GPA is the one thing I don’t really worry about a whole lot :)

and I also got A’s in all the classes mentioned above, so my first semester grades are great.

buuuuummmmppp

more feedback will be appreciated

will chance back.

I think all of the schools you listed will be matches except for Penn, Princeton, and Hopkins. For Penn and JHU, I’d say that it is a low reach/ high match. For Princeton, I’d say its a reach since your sat scores, despite how good they are, are slightly lower than their average. That doesn’t mean you probably won’t get i though, you still have a decent chance. But once again, you’ll be fine for all the UC’s as well as Northwestern and Rice.

Pomona College: match
Princeton: low reach
USC: match
UCLA: low reach
UCSD: match
UCD: match
Upenn (CAS): low reach
Rice: reach
Johns Hopkins: high reach
Northwestern: reach

cool. Btw, Uchopeful, do you really think that Hopkins is a high reach while Princeton being a low reach? I would think it would be the other way around, but thx for your feedback anyways :)

I would also like to add that I have had very good interviews for Pomona, Northwestern, Upenn, and jhu(all alumni). The interviewer from JHU also added that I will be a great fit for hopkins. I’m still waiting to hear from Rice, Princeton and Columbia for interviews.

alright thx for the feedback :D
