Last day to add/drop classes in summer?

Now that we’re back from vacation, we might want to look at son’s class schedule and see if we can “lighten the load”. I seem to remember something about a July date being mentioned earlier, though that may be in regards to housing.

When is the last day before Alabama Action a student can “adjust” their schedule?

We probably don’t have room to do this, but may want to look at putting a “fun” course in there, since we’ve got a GPA to maintain.

Also may have to do some adjusting once AP scores come in.

Does one use the add/drop classes option under myBama to do this?

Here is the Fall 2010 academic calendar…

[fall2010 Academic Calendar - The University of Alabama](http://registrar.ua.edu/calendar/fall_2010_general.html)

You can add a class until August 25. That is the same day you can drop a class without earning a W in the class. This is for all students.

You use the add/drop feature in mybama. Students will be changing classes all summer, so you may see openings in classes that were previously closed. Keep checking on a regular basis to see if your son finds what he wants.

There will be some classes that only last the second half of the semester that can be registered for after 25 August. They aren’t up on myBama yet, but they are an option if your S wants to add a course in later on. I don’t know why we can’t register now for these courses as it would be a good way of managing one’s workload.

Is your son thinking of using some of his AP credits instead of retaking the classes?

If he keeps his existing schedule it shouldn’t be too bad since isn’t he retaking Cal I and Chemistry?

I don’t think the Frosh engineering classes will be too difficult. I know that the program has changed, but both my boys took the former ones and they weren’t bad at all.

Your son may want to take a fun class later on when math, physics and engineering classes really get hard.
