Last minute application to W&M--EDII or Regurlar?

Debating a last minute application to W&M (in-state)! She’s been hesitant because she feels it is a complete “reach”. She did not interview at the school and we’ve visited the campus on our own (not an official tour)–so she hasn’t “demonstrated interest”. Her other applications were finished by Thanksgiving, and now she’s having second thoughts about not giving W&M a “try”. Does EDII offer a better chance of acceptance? The deadline for EDII and RD is the same.
Thanks for any feedback!

Her stats:
3.7 GPA (UW)
31 ACT
Top 25% of class
Will graduate with 7 AP classes
Solid ECs/very involved: SCA Student Body President; SCA VP junior year; several Honor Societies (National, English, Journalism); Managing Editor for school paper; sits on school advisory council with Superintendent; served on an advisory panel to review school safety protocols; golf team; basketball team manager; volunteers outside of school as a mentor for students with special considerations; works 2 PT jobs (15 hrs per week) and interning for a local marketing company.
Only 3 years of foreign language.
Has done very well in her AP classes (As in all AP classes and 4s & 5s on AP exams).

She definitely will have a better chance EDII. I wouldn’t worry too much about stats. I got in with EDI with a 1380 sat and 4.39 weighted gpa (similar to her I had As in all AP classes). It seems like she has some solid ECs so she has a solid shot especially because she is in state.

She sounds like a terrific student and person. If W&M is her top choice, EDII would probably be better. This is the first year they’re having EDII, so it’s hard to know for sure.

W&M hadn’t moved up my list until after it was too late to schedule an interview spot, but I was still accepted EDI. An interview shouldn’t matter, but I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to tour between now and February if you can or an email to her admissions rep. It does not sound like a complete reach to me either, but as prodesse said, though we don’t fully know about it, EDII is probably smart. Good luck
