hey everyone,
thus far this quarter i am unable to get into any calculus 1c courses (de anza college). now i don’t THINK it’s necessary for my major (computer science TAG to UCI), it isn’t according to ASSIST anyway, but in the event i am unable to get into any sections what would I need to do to notify the university? or would I even need to notify them until after receiving my admissions decision?
At this point, the only one maybe is berkeley. Because you’re going to hear within 10 days or so for most of the others, probably even UCLA.
alright, so for everyone but berkeley should i just not notify them and wait for them to get my transcript or what?
also i’m reading ASSIST correctly and my impression that you only need calc 1A and 1B for UCI is correct right?
apparently i need “one year of approved college level math, preferably courses in calculus equivalent to UCI’s Mathematics 2A-B; if not available, two semester courses equivalent to other major-related math courses are acceptable”
and according to ASSIST 1A and 1B are equal to 2A and 2B from UCI, and those are the only math courses required for transfer yeah?

First, thx for including a link. So many ppl don’t do that. My only hesitation is it looks like it is saying one year of calculus and you appear to be on the quarter system.
yeah that’s what’s throwing me off, i’ve also taken a few quarters of transferable precalculus and it says a year of “college level math” so that plus the two quarters of courses that are listed as required, and I guess that works?
and UCI is also on the quarter system so i’m thinking that should be fine
I would send an email. You’re probably right, but they can get weird with these math things.
alright sounds good, thanks a bunch
yup, just heard back from them and two quarters of calculus is sufficient for CS, in case anyone searching this in the future needs to know
