Last minute college change?thinking of going to community college instead of uni.

I’m new here and im not sure if this is the right section to post this in but I really need help.I’;m a upcoming freshman and I’ve applied and did everything for the university I plan to go to. Its the only university that I will be able to go to because its near my house and I am not able to go away for college for personal reasons. I’ve got a scholarship for 3000k a year for 4 years. However, my college recently released the tuition for fall 2015 and it has increased 8.5 percent from last years tuition which I find ridiculous. I have literally nothing to help me pay for college and im relying on the scholarship and grants that I got. I am now thinking of switching to community college at the last second than maybe prehaps go to a different university once I am able to. But I just dont know if it will be worth giving up my scholarship which I think isn’t that much especially with the tuition going up. Any advice what to do? Is it too late? if the university released the tuition increase earlier, I sure would of tried to look at my options earlier.

You have three options:

  1. Scrape together the money to attend this university now.
  2. Tell them that you won’t be attending after all, and attend the community college instead.
  3. Tell them that you won’t be attending this fall, take a gap year, and apply to places that are likely to be more affordable and sort through the personal reasons that currently keep you in the area. Maybe a year from now you would be able to start as a freshman somewhere else.

The big questions to address are:
Do you have enough money between your scholarships and grants and a part-time job so that you can pay for this university? If not, then you can’t go there this fall.
If you have barely enough money to go there, would you be able to afford it later on if you begin at the community college and then transfer in two years? Sometimes scholarship money is only offered to freshmen applicants and transfers won’t get that kind of aid.
