Last minute decisions.

Hi y’all. I’m in a lot of distress right now and could use some help with unbiased people.

So I got rejected from six colleges, including my top choice, Michigan. I’m still upset. I also got rejected from State even though I exceeded all of their requirements. Whatever, I guess.

I was accepted into the Diplomacy school at Seton Hall, and the only time I visited it was for orientation. I loved the program, didn’t love the campus, and even with a massive scholarship I will still struggle to pay for it.

My only other option is Wayne State. I also attended orientation there (both schools know the situation I am in) and absolutely hated it. Hated the campus. Hated the kids. Hated the classes offered. I will not be happy there at all but they offered me substantial financial aid. I will transfer out as soon as possible but I also don’t want to spend a year at a school I hate, wasting money, and just being overall miserable.

My parents just got divorced during my senior year. My dad supports Seton Hall but probably can’t pay for it, my mom will ONLY pay for Wayne State. I’m just very upset and confused. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Community college for a year or two to get your grades up and to allow you to mature.

agreed, sounds like community college + transfer later would be a better option

Yes, spend more time selecting schools you actually want to attend and can get in to. Don’t apply to schools that you don’t want to attend. A gap year might be good here.

I agree with the above posters- go with community college, or take a gap year. Don’t force yourself to go to a college that you won’t possibly be happy at.
