@JustinAdmUChicago How are dual enrollment classes viewed? I once attended a college session where they said that they don’t place as much importance on these since difficulty is subjective across college. I’ve taken over 15 classes throughout my four years, and would like them to be considered in my application, since I spent a lot of time engaging with them.
@MeMiMoMum, the expected family contribution from our net price calculator (which can be found on our website, again CC doesn’t let me link but anyone reading this can find it by searching “uchicago net price calculator”) is what that 100% of demonstrated need means. Our financial aid team has put a lot of time and energy into building that tool as well as building our processes for determining need. There are lots of great third-party resources that we use to help inform that process, from academic research to government sources like the Department of Education. If what you found in the NPC is way off from what you had expected, I strongly encourage getting in touch with our financial aid office. They’ll be able to help you navigate that process in regards to your specific situation in a way that I can’t in this setting. Their email is college-aid@uchicago.edu.
If, at any ED school, the financial aid package you’re given after admission doesn’t match what you and your family personally expect or feel is possible, then yes, you should have that conversation with your regional counselor about being released from your agreement.
@AnonZoraDora, we view that similarly to any other advanced coursework, and always in context of what exactly you’ve done so far!
Thanks so much for all the great questions, everybody! I’ve got to run to a meeting now, but I’ve really appreciated getting to connect with you here! If you have further questions that we weren’t able to answer right here, please contact us at collegeadmissions@uchicago.edu, and you can also find your regional admissions counselor’s email address on our website. If you’d like to speak with a financial aid counselor, our Office of Financial Aid can be reached at college-aid@uchicago.edu. Good luck with your applications!!!
