I was deferred from Yale and decided to make an Arts Supplement to add to my application. I know Arts Supplements are usually superfluous and should only be submitted if you are very very good. Against my better judgment, I also indicated that I would submit an Arts Supplement to my other RD schools. For context, my application and my essay are heavily focused on dance and my EC achievements mention several international dance programs. Here are my concerns:
A) Can I use Yale’s slideroom for RD applicants even tho I applied ea? I haven’t been able to find an answer on the website and the admissions office was closed, but I think it would be more “fair” for me to meet the same deadlines as the RD applicants. On the other hand, I feel uncomfortable bc I feel like I’m not following the instructions. The deadline is tmw.
B) I already submitted it to Columbia and I’ve decided that it was a horrible mistake. I included 3 videos, 2 of which I now think are mediocre. I guess there are technically ways to prevent them from seeing this by deleting the youtube vid or updating the applicant portal to say I’m no longer submitting an Arts supplement, but I feel like that would be weird at this point.
C) It would probably look bad to not submit an Arts Supplement after saying I would, right?
I’ve spent the past two days obsessively watching other ppl’s arts supplements on youtube. Objectively, I know that many of them are more impressive than mine, but my parents were rlly pushing me to do an Arts supp when I submitted my applications.
Essentially, I’m worried that my Arts Supplement is not at the level that it should be and I’ve ruined my chances. I’m thinking that the only thing I can do now is to just submit the first video to the other schools. It is a different genre (the other two were ballet), but maybe its fine if I don’t show the full range.
