Last Minute Fin. Aid

Hi all, I hoe somebody can shed some light for me.
I just found out I got accepted into USC as a transfer. I applied on a whim and suggestion and didn't think I would really pursue. I didn't prepare for it fully, so I didn't fill out any financial aid forms.

I didn't fill out my FAFSA yet because I have never qualified for any aid at UC Davis. Is it too late for me to qualify for fin. aid should I decide on transfering? I can only go to USC if the tuition drops at least $20,000 ($40,000 a year on tuition alone is impossible for me in this current economic climate).

You can fill out the FAFSA now and get a Stafford loan (the amount would depend on what year you are in). That would be $5.5K+. You can hope that USC has some other aid still available. Give their admissions office a call.

ddng911,

You have missed all deadlines. USC does not guarantee to meet need for students who miss the financial aid deadlines, BUT some students have received aid - including USC grants - when applying late. It can’t hurt to try.

It is Memorial Day weekend. Don’t wait until Tuesday to speak with USC. TODAY…

File the 2010-2011 FAFSA TODAY. If you do not have a PIN, you might not be able to file today. Apply for the PIN today (AND your parents must apply for a PIN) and submit the FAFSA as soon as possible.

File the CSS/Profile TODAY. Do not wait.

FAX your 2009 tax returns and W-2s, your parent’s 2009 tax returns and W-2s, or non-filer’s statements TODAY.

USC will not figure a financial aid package for you until all of the above is submitted. Find USC financial aid information and contact information on their website [USC Financial Aid - Applying & Receiving Financial Aid - Undergraduate - New Students](http://www.usc.edu/admission/fa/applying_receiving/undergraduates1/newstudents.html) and on page one of http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/839970-faq-usc-financial-aid-2010-a.html</a></p>

You will probably have to submit a commitment deposit before your aid is calculated because of your late FA application. An extension will not be granted in your case because you did not initially apply for aid. Also submit a deposit to a school you know you can afford.

Please be aware that **USC will use the CSS/Profile and their own formula to determine if you will receive USC grants. **The fact that you feel you need $20,000 will not be a factor in their calculations. The information from the FAFSA, including FAFSA EFC, will ONLY be used to distribute Federal aid. You FAFSA EFC will have no effect on USC grants - only the CSS/Profile will be used for that.

Good luck and congratulations on your acceptance!

P.S. Did I mention you should do all of this TODAY???
