Hi. I just finished the 8th grade yesterday, and was wondering if anyone knows of a place where I could take a good online high school (or maybe even college-level) course during the summer. I already miss having some schoolwork to do, and I’d like to get ahead while I have free time. I know that this is super last minute, but better late than never? Thanks for any replies!!
My local community college has a few online courses, but they are filling up very quickly (as in overnight) and I’m not sure that I’d be able to take them due to my age/lack of prerequisites. There isn’t a lot of information online, so my mom said that she’d call them and ask…
Is there an accredited online school that is free in your area/state? Many of these have rolling admissions.
I would suggest doing health or PE online if you can. Those courses are required in pretty much every state to graduate and I personally thought it was a waste of time doing them during the year. I did health in school because I didn’t really know what I wanted to do freshman year, but once I found some classes I was interested in, I took PE over the summer to free up space.
Yeah, I thought about that. Luckily, my school only requires 2 years of PE, but it might still be a good idea to find an online health course that could qualify for one of those 2.
When I looked that up, I was able to find “K-12” for CA (my state), but their summer courses aren’t listed on their website yet. I suppose I could/should call and ask for more info, but I my mom signed me up for a speed-reading course already, and I’m hoping to get some reading, writing, and other projects done, so I think I might just wait until next summer. Thanks for replying, though!
