last minute rates: chain of command- can anyone help?

Can anyone please list the chain of command that the incoming plebes are required to know? and is there anything else they need to know on arrival besides COC, mission and the first 3 general orders of a sentry? Appreciate the feedback!

Nothing else to memorize.

Administrative Chain of Command
President of the United States: President George Bush
Secretary of Defense: Honorable Donald Rumsfeld
Secretary of Navy: Honorable Donald Winter
Chief of Naval Operations: Admiral Michael Mullen, USN
United States Navy Academy Superintendent: Vice Admiral Rodney Rempt, USN
Commandant of Midshipmen: Captain Bruce Grooms, USN

...and I guess we'll figure out how to recite that by means of guess and test. :)

Administrative Chain of Command

Regimental Commander: TBD
Battalion Commander: TBD
Company Commander: TBD
Platoon Commander: TBD
Squad Leader: TBD
You: Hopefully you know who that is

TBD = You will find out on I-Day; it isn't required when you walk in Alumni Hall, but probably in the first few days.

Just wait for the Ac Year when you have to know all 4 stripers and above!

Thanks dictatoranna and jadler- will forward to son for the ride down tomorrow! Much appreciated!

You might as well go and memorize ALL the general orders...and the code of conduct. They're not very hard, and it'll be one less thing to worry about.

they won't expect you to know this until later, but if you're really motivated:
the qualifications of a naval officer
the man in the arena.

Oh, if they ask you what a CGU-11 is........ it's a SEAGULL.

And USS ARIZONA is the only commissioned warship with water-cooled handrails. (Always hated that one.)

Don't fall for those old gags.

Do you have to know rates, reef points, regulations etc at NAPS?

Not Reef Points (AFAIK).

I can't remember if this was a West Point gag or Annapolis gag, but they used to ask freshman how many bricks did it take to finish the courtyard. Instead of counting bricks on the courtyard, just answer "One."

Ah, yes. I'd forgotten that one.

Zaph,

Who rooms with W. T. Door?

Joe Gish rooms with W.T. Door.

Don't forget what the largest ship in the US Navy is. It's not an aircraft carrier, and it's not currently on the sea.

OK, being an AF guy, I'm curious...

If Sec Def and Dep Sec Def die at the same time, Sec Army is next in the chain and then Sec Navy.

If you don't know it now, it's too late! :D

Hey Z, you had posted a link for a book about the Persian Gulf (fiction, I think) and I can't locate that post. The book looks interesting and I was thinking about getting it for one of my boys. If you can remember that would be great - if not then no problem. Thanks much.

Do you mean the longest ship? USS MAINE. The foremast is in Arlington National Cemetary and the Mainmast is in the yard (or vice versa).
