last minute supplemental letters--necessary?

I am looking at the EA people and it seems that some of the more borderline acceptees had supplemental letters and materials that got them in. I'm wondering if I should have submitted one from my oboe teacher to make me stand out a little more even though I didn't submit a recording. I was thinking about it but then decided not to because Yale's website seems to have negative attitude towards them and I thought it might not look good without recording to back it up. With my stats would it help or hurt? (I could actually probably have him write a very good letter and send it off on Saturday).

Stats:
SAT I: 750w 780m 760v
SAT IIs: 800mathII/800chem/720 lit
GPA Unweighted: 4.0
Rank:1/400something in a big but average public school
Senior Yr Courseload:heavy
ECs:speech/debate,oboe,piano
Essay: one on music in general but not on oboe playing, one light hearted one--both pretty good
Hook (if any):small state?? (Montana)

Also, would it be okay if the rec didn't get sent a few days past deadline?

It definetely wont hurt, but it might not help. So if it's a good letter, go for it you can't lose. mmmm gouda cheese
