Last minute to send Part 2

What is the last minute to send Part 2 of the application? MIT has received and processed all parts of my application except Part 2. Is January 1 11:59 PM the last minute when I can send Part 2?

Have a look:
[MIT Admissions | Blog Entry: “MIT Regular Action Deadline”](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/apply/deadlines/mit_regular_action_deadline_1.shtml)

Thanks. That means I can submit on any time on January 1.

But is that 11:59 EST or PST?

What is List any scholastic distinctions you have won since entering high school and indicate the level of distinction.?

Awards and Honors in an academic field.

Then there’s one in an extracurricular field.

Okay thanks. i filled those in. What to write in Part 9 optional esay?

I’m just starting my essays now. I’m not applying to any other college, but somehow procrastination still has its hold on me. Do all humans procrastinate, or just some unlucky subset?

Haha. What you applying to MIT as well and you just starting? =OD (Yes! Another one gone! Increased chances! Yayz!) xD

cgarcia: All humans do procrastinate, but just sometimes. Hurry.

MrPanda: So you’ve completed it :D

Hey what should I put in for the optional essay?

It’s optional. You don’t need to put anything in.

If there’s something special about you (and there probably is) that didn’t come out elsewhere in the application, the optional essay is a good play to write about that.

If you managed to say everything you wanted without the need for the optional essay (and there’s nothing at all wrong with that - it’s great) then you shouldn’t feel obligated to put something in there.

In other words, I don’t think it’s the place for a “Why MIT” or “reading list” essay as so many people seem to use the optional portions for. I’m just an applicant like you, but that seems to be the vibe I get from most admissions folk.

Stupid question. I see people putting “Science Olympiad” as scholastic distinction. Is it important that you came far? I participated in the International Math Olympiad (IMO) twice and International Physics Olympiad (iPhO) once. I didn’t even pass the first (national) round :(. Do people who list it came far? Could I put myself as “International Math Olympiad contestant”?

I think that’s not proper, is it?
