What is the difference between ''Like'' and ''As'' ?

(In similarity) with some other great works, the enduring horror tale Frankenstein was first published anonymously ; its author ,Mary Shelley ,wrote the novel when she was not quite nineteen years old.

B)As
E)Like

The answer is E .I got this one but when I now think about it ,I realize I didnt have a clear idea why it was E and it was a matter of luck.
So can anyone explain this to me :)

Like is a comparison and as is … a definite type of thing.

She works like the man down the street. Is she the man down the street? No, but she works like him. Just a simple comparison.

As is the definite being. She works as the butcher. Who is the butcher? She is.

If you flip them – she works as the man down the street. Doesn’t make the most sense, but what does she do? She works as ‘the man down the street.’ She would be that man.

She works like the butcher. Who does she work like? The butcher.

In your case – it’s like. Is it the ‘great works’? No. But it can compare to them.

… And, it also doesn’t make any sense with ‘as’ in there. Haha.
