Looking for a LAC in a rural area. Planning to study Psychology/Neuroscience/Cognitive Studies in a premed track

As of now:

Carleton College (absolute dream school)
UMBC honors
Bucknell (maybe?)
Michigan
Conn College
Washington College

Looking to add 1-3 more schools. Thank you!!

Grinnell, Beloit, and Hamilton come to mind.

Glad to see Carleton as your dream school. Not that I'm biased or anything.

ED to Carleton?

i would definitely ED there but unfortunately financial aid is an issue

"Looking for a LAC in a rural area. Planning to study Psychology/Neuroscience/Cognitive Studies in a premed track":

Bard is a small LAC in rural NYS (90 mi. N of NYC) with a Psychology/Neuroscience program. Although primarily known for arts/ humanities, Bard is building its science programs up, and also and does a little bragging about premed results:
<a href="http://www.bard.edu/academics/additional/additional_pop.php?id=883739%5B/url%5D">http://www.bard.edu/academics/additional/additional_pop.php?id=883739</a></p>

Bard is on the small side with 1400 UG, and doesn't have the breadth and depth of resources of larger institutions. However, well regarded faculty resources (#15 among LACs in USNWR rankings).

Oberlin has significant and well-regarded science and neuroscience programs, and falls into the small town / rural category.

Good luck!

grinell and wake forest

Wake Forest is not exactly rural. Elon would be a better choice.

Colgate? Saint Mary's MD? One of the Claremont schools? Whitman?

hamilton, bates, colby, colgate, vassar

Definitely check out Oberlin.

I'm not sure Vassar is really rural ...

Bates, Bryn Mawr, and Wellesley come to mind.

thanks to everyone who responded. however, i feel that many of these schools are more in the "reach" area for me. what would some matches/safeties be?

Check out Allegheny. It's supposed to have a strong science program, and I believe they offer a major in neuroscience. But it's a little easier to get into than Carleton, Oberlin, etc., so it might be a match or a safety for you. It's definitely rural and a reasonable drive from Maryland.

St Mary's College of Maryland is a good choice- I know that someone justed it earlier. It's in a beautiful, rural location, and is a well respected LAC with a public school price tag. It should be a safety/low match.
