Okay so my deadline was extended for both bc I hadnt recieved my finaid packages. But I have just recently got both and now I have to decide. But the good news is that I basically got full tution at both. Except at UNC I have no loans and at UVA I have $8,000 in loans. But either way it's not too bad. So which one is the better choice if I'm a bio major hoping to go pre med?

I would take the money and go to UNC. $32,000 for four years… no way, when you could go to an excellent university (UNC) and not have that debt. Save the debt for medical school.

These two seem to be increasingly similar, right down to the quaint college towns and the beautiful brick buildings. It’s almost a question of whether you look better in dark blue or light blue. Unless UVa gives you a significanly better vibe, you might as well save the money and go to UNC.

Agreed. 10chars

I could see this as being a tough choice. H, FIL, and SIL are all tarheels and all also really love UVA…it’s a sister school in a lot of ways. I’d take the money, though. Carolina is just an amazing school, from great academics to fantastic professor, to awesome athletics and school spirit. I didn’t go there, but it is just the quintesseintial, true American college experience. I’ve never met a group who loved thier alma mater more than UNC alumns…maybe USC alumns…maybe, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

In my biased opinion (I’m currently a student at UNC), I would go with UNC. Both are great schools, and you really can’t make a bad decision here. Still, UNC has an incredible atmosphere (beautiful campus, great sports, unparalleled school spirit) which when combined with the school’s prestige and excellent academics make it hard to beat.

Also, UNC’s pre-med programs are very strong (and pretty challenging, I might add).

I would definitely go to UNC

UNC for free!?!?!

Enough said.

UVa! UVa! UVa!

hahaha you would be the one to hate UNC being a Duke alumni

unc period, less of a factory anyway…

Would definitely go in state. UVA is slightly more prestigious but the difference is negligible.

I would pick U.Va any day, however when you get UNC with no loans… go with that. UNC has better science programs too?

UVA is the better school. very underrated in my opinion. UVA is going places. hop on the train.

UNC without a doubt.

UVA might be better ranked, but it’s got a lot of problems.

They are both similar. I would go to UNC, simply because you would have to pay less.

(And this is coming from a guy who regretted not applying to UVA.)

UNC is the better choice, especially considering you’re basically in there for free. And since you are looking to be a bio major, UNC is the better choice compared to UVA.

UVa! UVa! UVa!

DukeAlumnus2003 any reason particular reason why u think uva?

because he went to Duke and Duke fans hate UNC and UNC fans hate Duke, it’s one of the biggest rivalries in college basketball.
