Hey. So a bunch of you have been great about giving me advice lately and I'm turning to you one last time. I'm a rising sophomore at Wesleyan University in CT and I really like it academically, but I had a pretty bad social/extracurricular experience there, which was probably part me, part the school. Anyway, I applied to a few schools and I only got into one, Northwestern, which was the one I wasn't actually sure I'd go to. (but hey--I got in!!!). I don't have much in terms of a life to tie me to Wes, but I'm not sure how they compare academically, and I'm not sure how much individual focus I'd be losing.

I just found out about my admission today, and I am deifnitely excited to hear it because it means a new opportunity (since Wes didn't turn out all that happy), but I'm nervous about "settling".... Can you help me out?

I want to double major in mathematics and english, and I probably want to become a professor of one or the other. I'm very interested in creative writing and horseback riding. Mmmm that's about it. Any help is much appreciatied!!!

Would you transfer if you were me? I know I've gone through all this mess (sorry, but yeah, the process is a mess) dying to be accepted, and I'm ecstatic to have been accepted, but now I'm more than a little nervous. I don't want to mess up, again. And I don't want to go backwards.

On another note entirely, I remember talking to a few others who got into NU as transfers as well. How are you guys dealing with housing and classes and stuff? I'm a bit crazed right now.

northwestern or wesleyan....northwestern or wesleyan...NORTHWESTERN or wesleyan...NORTHWESTERN!!!!! or wesleyan.

What kind of a ques....come on man. You know where to go...Can't you hear her calling to you. Run to her. Run as fast as you can and never look back.

all the cool kids are going to northwestern...although if you're unsure, make sure you remember why you wanted to transfer in the first place, and figure out if those issues will be resolved by going.

don't listen to those who say Northwestern is a sure choice; most people don't apperciate a good liberal arts education. Wesleyan is as good as is gets for LAC, Northwestern often has to justify itself against the Ivies. If you are not miserable at Wes, don't rush into anything. Visit NU, see how it feels- it may be too big if you originally were attracted to schools like Wesleyan. Make a list of the pros and cons and remember that as a sophomore you could always apply again if you still find yourself not happy next year at Wesleyan. Either way, you should be congratulated on your acceptance to Northwestern and into two very fine schools thus far. Best of luck.

the cost is pretty much the same, either way. Thanks to all of you for your advice. Crest, I'm taking you up on your advice and I'm visiting next week. How hard is it to settle housing and class registration as a transfer student?

Pretty easy, I think, as they seem to do quite a bit of hand holding. All transfers are required to attend new student week, for example. They also told me transfers have more access to singles, if that's what you want.

I'll be going to NU as a transfer this fall... I don't know if the school is a perfect match for me, but they gave me such great aid that I can't turn it down.
