Late app

Is it worth the effort to apply as a late applicant to a "secondary" prep school? What New England prep schools have the latest app deadline? Any help would be Great?

Not in New England, but check out Conserve -- they have rolling admissions, offer great FA (still available) and have good matriculation to top schools.

Conserve School – a private college preparatory boarding high school in Wisconsin

Go to Boarding School Review - College-Prep & Jr. Boarding Schools and look for schools with rolling admissions. Call the schools that interest you to find out whether or not they still have openings for your grade. Often boardingschoolreview is not up-to-date. In May, the ssat website will post the scca list which has schools that still have openings. Some schools may still have a few openings but not be on the scca list. If you look outside New England, you will probably have more choices.

As of a couple weeks ago Peddie was accepting late applications.

Will you need Financial aid to attend?

i think hill school takes rolling also...according to boardingschoolreview.com

My family is willing to pay but FA would help a lot

very few schools will still have FA available -- and at most schools, if you are admitted without aid you can't apply in future years. BS can cost around $40,000/yr or so. Are your parents fully aware of the costs and able to pay? If so, you list will be longer than if you actually need FA to make it happen.

I considered doing that, but I met with the alumna who interviewed me for Exeter who told me that it might be better staying at my current school, partly because that I would be getting used to a new environment and my grades would probably be lower, affecting my high school GPA. Also because she feels that there is so many things I can do in Beijing, since it's where the 2008 Olympics are being held and because its the capital of the country with the world's fastest growing economy.
