Late Application--2 minutes

I sent My application 2 minutes late. Will they still accept it?

The same thing happened to me. I submitted the supplement beforehand assuming the app part got sent too, then randomly looked at the common app again at 12:02 to see that i didn’t submit the main app part and i freaked out. i hope they will accept our apps. i sent them an email, hopefully they will respond.

yea i sent my app in at 9:02 PST due to issues, which is 12:02 their time. will they still take it, or give it the same chance as other apps?

The same thing happened to me, Mangofan. If you find out anything would you mind telling me?

Yea the same thing happened to me(computer shot off). I sent an email, but just got a reply saying that their office is closed until the 3rd. I’m freaking out!!!

Does anyone see anything on their website about their policy about technical problems? the same thing happened for both penn and brown for me since they both needed the supplement before the application :frowning: i hope i didn’t just waste two weeks on nothing…

no sorry :frowning: are any of you guys going to call on the 3rd or send an email?

Shouldn’t have waited till the last second.

MOST Universities will continue to accept apps up to a few hours after the deadline; however, it may not look very good if a prospective student submitted their app at the last second, regardless of the situation.

Hope this helps

I actually submitted the common app portion early, like around 10 but then I didn’t realize there was an extra step - the payment crap and I wasn’t even finished with my supps then… So when I submitted my supps, I thought everything was ok, they got everything. Until I start checking each school and saw the “In Progress” thing around 2AM O_O

And it turned out my request for my common app submission didn’t go through and I submitted my commonapp at 2:08 am.
Boo.

Why would you honestly wait until the last minute to submit an application…

I believe everyone has a reason to submit application late. No one WANTS to wait until the last minute. I had the same problem for one of my colleges too. For your reference I worked today (at a restaurant and it was busy) Before I submitted my application I final checked because I wanted it to be perfect. I submitted my CommonApp on time, but before I submitted my supplement, I was kicked off CommonApp for some reason. I logged back in only to find that at the time I hit “submit” button it’s 12.00am (yeah 1 minute late!!!) I understand those who submitted their application late and wish the best for them (well including myself :()

The same thing happened to me, submitted the supplement at 11:59 paid at 12:01 and submitted common app at 12:02. I mean really it’s not fair they make you pay before submitting the common app. I lost valuble seconds there because I know you can pay after the deadline. And to all of you who are blabbing on about not waiting till the last minute you don’t realize that some people aren’t gifted with the ability to write and it takes us a week to write really good essays. Plus my computer kept crashing so I had to go buy spy sweeper and sweep my laptop which killed at least 4 hours.

hey guys, btw thank you T26E4, for that comforting post =), seriously that calmed me down alot lol. And I received a confirmation email from the appsupport-common app around 6:30-7am. for both my supplements and application (separate confirmations for 2 colleges) does that mean I’m in the clear, or did Commonapp just process the info correctly??

If commanapp says whichever university downloaded your supplement & application, you’re probably in the clear.

Anyway, this should be a lesson. A person I know here waited till last minute to look up location&time of a final and got there 1 hour and 15 minutes late (in a 2-hour exam). So yeah, shouldn’t wait till the last second for important stuff.

^ MUCH different then a college application lol

Not really, given the serious impact either could easily have on a person.

cool, their going to consider the app, and I got the portal sigh. Hopefully this won’t happen again XD

My daughter thought she had sent in both the Common Application and the Supplemental for U Penn on the day they were due — January 1, 2011. On Jan. 1 at 9:30 pm Pacific time (we live in California) she realized that the Common App had not been submitted. She emailed it in, but the submitted date came back on Jan. 2! Needless to say, we panicked. I called the Penn admission office on Monday morning. THe person in admissions said not to worry. They are “soft” about the date, and no problem. On another note, we visited U CHicago over the summer and my daughter decided not to apply there. We received 2 very nice emails from them this week, really encouraging her to apply, even though the deadline had passed. They even said it was ok to submit the two sections separately if that would make it easier. This email looked like it was a mass mailing. The admission people of these colleges know with the time zone diffeences and possible computer glitches and breakdowns, that they can’t be strict to the second on the admission deadlines.
