<p>Do late applications hurt chances for finical aid and admission?</p>
<p>It seems like I remember reading that you were only interested in the high prestige schools. I’ve never heard of anyone getting late financial aid at any of the schools you’ve expressed an interest in. They turn away many excellent kids in the first round and have who knows how many on standby in their waitlists. It’s not easy to come by after the deadline at any school, really; but I have heard of it happening her on CC at one of the boys schools. Avon maybe?</p>

<p>Amuchan contact the school, as long as your application online is done i think you will be fine. I just started a certain “prestige school” application last week! I talked to the school and my essay, recs, are being sent next week. NOT to me mention I am a full financial aid applicant; I applied late and even received a fee waiver!! The schools will just be organizing massive documents for the next two weeks. my reccomendation, just contact the school and hurry</p>
<p>I agree with andoverhopefulX - your applications are not yet “late”. Just get them in quickly and you’ll be fine. The “late applicants” people are talking about in this thread are those who apply too late for a March decision.</p>
<p>This is assuming, by the way, that all the other necessary pieces are in place - such as testing already completed. If it isn’t, you need to ask the schools how long they’d be willing to wait for test scores.</p>

<p>Oh, I didn’t realize you had the main components in already - testing, essays, PFS etc. They won’t consider you late if it’s things that you don’t have control over.</p>
<p>But you won’t know whether your app is being considered in the regular March 10 decisions round or not until you call the schools you are interested in and ask. Some may be more flexible than others. I really have no idea.</p>

<p>I really have no experience with that. Try doing a search with both financial aid and late application. If you don’t plan to get things in until late February, it is highly unlikely that you would be considered in the first round of admissions. I think Emma Willard may have a kind of rolling admissions because they accept kids to begin mid-year. Of course, this is only an option if you’re a girl! :)</p>

if I do get things done in early/mid feburary though but after the deadline, do you think i could still be considered for the first round of admissions? i also know that andover says the material has to be postmarked by feb. 1 but for the schools that don’t mention that, does it mean the stuff has to get to their offices of admission by the deadline, or like andover, just postmarked by the deadline?</p>
<p>aurelie - The due date is generally the postmark date, so no worries there.</p>
<p>But, regarding late applications . . . you’ll have no problem finding space as a late applicant, but financial aid is another matter entirely. As a rule, the financial aid budget for each school us FULLY allotted by Match 10. The only money remaining after that date would come from accepted FA applicants who decide to go elsewhere, at which point their FA funds would come available. But those funds need to be split up between accepted candidates who need more money, waitlisted FA candidates, and late applicants.</p>
<p>I can tell you that a family I know filed late applications a while back and was told point blank by almost every school they contacted: there’s space, but no FA. Several of those schools are known for having very generous FA budgets, but by the time they get to late app’s, there’s usually nothing left.</p>
<p>That doesn’t mean it’s impossible - there’s certainly a school out there somewhere that will have funds. And I’ve heard stories about candidates applying late and getting very generous FA awards, so it can happen. But don’t assume that rolling admissions means rolling FA. It generally doesn’t.</p>
<p>thanks dodgersmom, so pretty much that if I was to apply for late application it’d be virtually impossible to get a significant amount of financial aid. I started this whole process so late (around early January) that I’m only applying to 2 schools and even that’s a little bit of a stretch- and stress. I just feel as though I need a backup plan, that I’d start applying right after the Feb 1 deadline and then work on some safeties. Do you actually know any schools with a late February or March-ish deadline??</p>
