I submitted many of my applications to colleges 4-5 days late. I know colleges don’t mind if it’s a couple of hours late, but I submitted them DAYS after the deadlines. Will colleges consider my applications, or will it be an automatic rejection?
Should I contact every individual college and explain my late submission, or will they consider my application even if I don’t reach out and explain the reason for submitting late?
I feel as if it is risky to contact them. I don’t think giving a reason, even if it’s valid, for submitting so late will do any good. I would expect a response or at least the thought in the rep’s mind that you had months to submit and should not have waited til the last minute. I’m not sure what is the best option. If you contact them they might overlook what I just said, understand your reason, and review your application. It also might bring greater attention to your late submission. I’m not sure. I would definitely see what more experienced users say, but the facts that you had months first came to my mind. Sorry this happened and I hope everything works out!
I got an email from at least 3 colleges, including Yale, that I hadn’t submitted my application, even though I started it on CommonApp. Yale says that I have till 7th January to submit it. UChicago says I have till 9th January, even though their deadline was 3rd.
I guess that means colleges actually want more applications… and/or they are more understanding about late submissions then we might think.
Still not sure if I should go ahead and email every single college where I submitted late applications.
I submitted a couple of my applications 2-3 days late… however i received the emails regarding the deadline extension
after I submitted them… will this affect my application negatively?
Does receiving the portal link really mean the application is still considered? I applied to a college 10 days after the deadline just for the heck of it and they gave me an application portal, so is this true?
